You want something that hits the spot without weighing you down, and ideally, something that offers a comforting break from the hustle. That’s precisely how I stumbled upon Not A Ramen KLCC.
I remembered seeing it tucked away on the Concourse Level of Suria KLCC, just a stone's throw from the bustling crowd. Intrigued by the name – "Not A Ramen" – I decided it was the perfect opportunity for a workday Ramen Review (even if it’s technically not ramen!). As someone who's always exploring ramen in Malaysia, the concept instantly caught my eye. This place is definitely one of the "others" in terms of traditional classifications, but it promised something ramen-adjacent, and my curiosity was piqued.

Walking into Not A Ramen, you immediately get a sense of its urban efficiency. The setup is modern, clean, and streamlined, clearly designed for quick service without sacrificing quality. As for toppings, they kept it simple yet effective. The chicken chashu was tender and nicely seasoned, slicing easily and adding a pleasant savoury element. A perfectly cooked ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg) with its gooey yolk was, as always, a welcome addition. Fresh spring onions added a necessary touch of freshness and crunch.

Consistent Quality: Every component, from noodles to toppings, feels thoughtfully prepared.
The "No":
"Not A Ramen" Title: The history of ramen is complex, with endless regional variations as detailed in the Wikipedia entry on ramen, so their modern take is interesting. However, the name might confuse purists expecting a very specific type of Japanese ramen. It's more of a ramen-inspired noodle dish.
Limited Customization: Compared to some traditional ramen shops, customization options are somewhat limited, but this contributes to its efficiency.
Atmosphere for Quick Bites: It’s great for a fast meal but perhaps not for a long, leisurely dining experience if that's what you're after.

All about ramen is about finding what fits the moment, and Not A Ramen perfectly fits the bill for a great meal in a bustling city centre. It provides a delicious, comforting, and quick meal without compromising on flavour.
