Char Kuey Teow, Non-Halal
OO White Coffee Puchong has brought a slice of Penang to Puchong, operating in collaboration with The Beer Factory — and it’s a pairing that works surprisingly well. The setting is clean and air-conditioned, with a menu that features iconic Penang street fare served at slightly premium prices.
I ordered the Char Kway Teow with Duck Egg (RM13.50). The wok hei was present, and the use of duck egg gave the dish a distinctively sticky and wet texture. Personally, I enjoyed this rich, slightly wet finish, although Jen found it less appealing. The “siham” (cockles) were served raw and added briny intensity. What didn’t impress were the tiger prawns. While large and springy, they lacked flavour. The portion overall was on the smaller side, but that’s often the trade-off for enjoying hawker favourites in a more refined, air-conditioned setting.
Draught beer is available at OO White Coffee Puchong x TBF from 1:30 pm. CKT with a cold pint? That’s a Penang food meets pub mashup that will work, especially for leisurely meals on a hot day.
Jen’s pick was the White Curry Mee (RM14.90). The broth was rich, savoury, and layered with spice and a whisper of sweetness. The noodles were firm and satisfying, and the bowl came with four impressively juicy prawns. According to the outlet manager, the broth is shipped directly from Penang three times a week — and it shows. The flavours are deep and authentic, holding their own even when compared to what you’d find up north.
Once the chili is added in.
Oh, I like their white coffee too (RM5.80). The strong taste of the white coffee pairs well with the CKT.
