Recently we went to S.A.J. Bistronomy by Leens to enjoy Syrian food to celebrate my daughter birthday. It was an interesting first experience with how Syrian food are presented here.
First we had the smoked chili hummus with their freshly made bread. We all like the hummus, it is unlike any hummus that we had before.
The herbs and olives give it a nice minty taste that nicely lighten and contrast with the flavour of hummus.
The hot bread pair nicely with it. A real win.
Next we tried the hokkaido scallops crudo which taste much like eating fresh lychee with minty saurce, quite interesting flavour to lighten the palate however not everyone favourite esp considering the price we can give this a miss.
Thyme sourdough with fig, mozzarella and oregano was well contrasted flavour of dry bread and moist juicy fig.
The lamb ribs which sat on a lightly flavoured mint sauce was everyone favourite and momentary took the top spot from us in term of taste enjoyment.
However that spot was quickly taken over by Short Ribs which no one can have enough of its juicy and moist meat that melt in your mouth. The chef really knows how bring the best out of this dish to have suvi it over night before searing it prior to serving. Top notch dish indeed. We find the crispy syrian rice interesting with the combination of flavour however could give it a miss as it was overshadowed by other dishes uniqueness.
We finished up with Baklava Cheesecake slice presented with nice birthday song by the restaurant, everyone likes it creamy moist texture.
