Big Breakfast, Mexican Fajita Bowl, Pork-Free
Jalan Sin Chew Kee may be a short road but it is home to some of KL’s best kept pre-war homes. These homes have now been converted into beautifully designed eateries or drinking holes. Three Years Old Cafe joins the company of eateries like VCR on Jalan Galloway. VCR established this as one of KL's go to hipster zones.
We had a Feels Like Mexico Fajita Bowl (RM26+) which comes with grilled chicken breast, guacamole, mango salsa, grilled corn and nachos served on a bed of rice. Nachos on rice sounded novel to me. A chip made of corn flour mixed with local rice. One is crunchy and salty. The other is bland and mushy. It didn't work in my head nor did it work on my tongue. The grilled chicken while well seasoned was overdone and dry.
I gave the vanilla canele (RM7+) a try but I found the exterior too hard to bite through without being cut into half by a knife first.
I should have ordered (which I did not) the Big Breakfast. That comes with a choice of Eggs, Grilled Tomato, Portobello Mushroom, Mixed Salad, House-made tomato sauce, a Sourdough Toast and a choice of a Chicken or Beef Bacon or Vegetarian Sausage. For RM35+ it comes with a cup of coffee too. That would have been the better option.
The + is for the 10% service charge
