A fried chicken leg, though flavorful, felt like a hero who had fought too long—valiant but a bit dry, and missing that signature berempah aroma.
The rice was a fragrant cloud, the sambal a fiery dragon with a spicy kick, and the kankung danced with just the right crunch and heat. Though the plate felt a tad tight for its generous bounty of peanuts, ikan bilis, cucumber slices, and half a boiled egg, the traditional presentation whispered comfort and nostalgia.
