Pork Chop
Lunch at Village Roast Duck Sunway Pyramid turned out to be a rather satisfying one, especially because one of the dishes ended up outperforming expectations. Jen and I both went for the set lunch. I had the Stoned Grilled XO Fried Rice with Abalone, while Jen chose the Fried Pork Chop with Dry Noodles.
The fried rice was pretty good. It had enough flavour to keep it enjoyable, and the combination of abalone, prawns and octopus gave it a more substantial feel than a plain fried rice. It felt like a proper set lunch rather than something rushed out for the lunch crowd. The seafood helped make the bowl more interesting, and the XO element gave it a savoury edge without overdoing things.

That said, the stronger dish was really the pork chop dry noodles. The pork chop was excellent. The meat was tender and very well seasoned, which made it immediately more memorable than the fried rice. It had enough flavour on its own and did not feel like it needed much else to carry the plate.

The noodles were also nicely al dente, and that made a difference. Dry noodle dishes can fall flat quite quickly if the texture is off, but this one held up well and gave the whole set a more polished feel. Between the pork chop and the noodles, this was the item that really stood out at the table.
Overall, Village Roast Duck gave us a solid mall lunch, with the fried rice being enjoyable enough, but the pork chop dry noodles clearly stealing the show.

At RM31.20 per person in Sunway Pyramid, this was a fair lunch deal. Two set lunches at this price point felt reasonable, especially with one dish turning out genuinely very good.

V – Venue & Vibes
Village Roast Duck works well as a convenient sit-down lunch spot in the mall. It has the feel of a dependable casual Chinese restaurant rather than somewhere trying too hard.

X – X-Factor
The X-factor was the pork chop. Tender, well-seasoned and paired with nicely al dente noodles, it easily became the best item of the meal.
