Japanese, Non-Halal
I had a lunch catch up with some friends at Taman Paramount and since I had not reviewed Curry Shokudo yet, it was an easy decision as to where we were to have lunch.

I had for their 48-hour tonkatsu curry rice. This is a deep-fried 48 hours miso-aged premium pork loin served with housemade original Japanese curry.

The dish was quite a visual feast. But the tasting is where the real test began. The crispy exterior of the tonkatsu was a testament to its skillful preparation. That invited anticipation for the flavours that awaited within. And the flavours did not disappoint. The tonkatsu, expertly executed, boasted a perfect equilibrium between the crispy outer layer and the succulent tenderness within. The flavour profile danced on my palate with a delightful interplay of savoury notes and the sourish notes of the sides. Coupled with a glass of Dry Asahi beer, it left me very satisfied.

A noteworthy aspect of the dining experience was the option to choose between the original curry and a spicy variant, promising an enticing prospect for future visits. The lingering thought of trying the spicy rendition already sparked anticipation for the next rendezvous with Curry Shokudo.
The price of the base tonkatsu is RM26.90. Top up RM5 and you get it with a side and a drink.
