It's amazing that this is my first time here at Luck Kee Restaurant, despite living in PJ for many years. While Chiefeater Luke Soon has already written about this dinner, I wanted to highlight an item he didn't get a chance to try. Arriving early together with another dinner companion, we managed to order a plate of fried pork with nam yue, and it was a standout.
The fried pork was exceptional, with the nam yue (fermented bean curd) providing a robust, savoury taste that didn't overpower the natural flavour of the meat. Each piece was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior that complemented the flavourful interior beautifully.
The dishes we had.
Burger Tofu
Sambal Kangkung
Steamed Tilapia.
Sweet and Sour Pork. This was perhaps the only dish that I thought was not up to the level of the rest.
What made the evening even better was the value for money. The total for our meal, consisting of five dishes for the four of us, came to just RM169. It’s rare to find such good quality dishes at such an affordable price, especially in Petaling Jaya where dining out can often be expensive.
However, there's a crucial point to note for anyone planning to visit Luck Kee Restaurant: they only accept cash payments. So, make sure to come prepared with cash to avoid any inconvenience.
