Pork Chop, Non-Halal
Back at The Red Kettle Gardens for a quick bite after a nearby meeting, I decided to go for their old classic pork chop (RM31.90++). What arrived was a plate with three thin slices of pork, each perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The pork was cooked to perfection, maintaining its juiciness and tenderness, while the tomato sauce added a tangy richness that complemented the meat beautifully. Accompanied by peas and golden potato wedges, the dish was hearty and comforting.

The original style of Hainanese pork chop is a dish steeped in local history, brought over by Hainanese immigrants who adapted Western culinary techniques to local ingredients. Traditionally, the pork chop would be coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried until golden and crispy. It would then be served with a rich, tangy sauce made with Worcestershire sauce, tomatoes, onions, and peas, creating a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savoury flavours.
The Asamboi Lemonade (RM15.90++) was a refreshing drink that is recommended for a hot day.

The version of pork chop at The Red Kettle Gardens brings back this nostalgia, blending the essence of this classic with a slightly modern twist, albeit at a premium.
