Fish & Chips, Western, Pork-Free
Jalan Tun Perak was originally named Mountbatten Road. You can actually guess where the inspiration for the name of Mountbatten Cafe on Jalan Tun Perak came from. There were a lot of employees from the surrounding institutions that were here for lunch. Not surprising given that there are several large banks nearby. With that bit of history and background out of the way, let’s get to the food.
I ordered a Fish & Chips (RM28++). Yes, fish. No chicken. Gotta change sometimes. The fish was a fried sea bass. The sides were raw cut fries, pineapple slaw and a yuzu tartare sauce. What I liked about the dish was the choice of fish. It’s good that it’s not a Dory. I think the yuzu tartare could have used some extra zing. The pineapple slaw was interesting. Strange, it seems I have been having a lot of pineapple in my dishes in the last 2 weeks.

I rounded up lunch with a cup of coffee. They have tow blends so you can ask them which would be more suited to you. Service is attentive and the service crew looked happy to be serving. That’s important as it just makes the dining experience better. The environment was comfortable despite how busy it got. I think it’s better to sit downstairs as I overheard someone mentioning that it was a bit hotter upstairs. It’s a crazy hot season at the moment.
