Nasi Lemak, Khao Soi Mae, Pork-Free
Another new cafe has opened Bandar Puteri Puchong 5. The 1st Nasi Lemak Taste serves both Thai and Malaysian cuisine. Apparently they are from Puchong Batu 14 but have now set up shop in the food haven of BP 5. I was headed home when I chanced upon them so I decided to do a takeaway for the fam.
Eager to try with their signature dish, we ordered for the Nasi Lemak with a Thai Style Fried Chicken (RM18.90). The rice was alright but lacked the fragrance that we expected of it. However, the fried chicken was an absolute delight—its crispy exterior giving way to succulent, well-seasoned meat. The Thai sauce that accompanied the dish was how they justified it being Thai style.
The Fried Chicken
The Fried Meehoon with Fried Chicken (RM18.90) was a pleasant surprise despite how it looked. The mee hoon was well executed, savoury and not too dry albeit with a darker look. It was also complemented by the same delicious fried chicken that left me longing for more.
The Yellow Wine Chicken with Rice (RM18.90) was good too. A tender and well-marinated chicken dish, Jen found the taste of the dish leaned more on the sweet side. Her presence would have been a balanced sweet and sour taste.
It was the Khao Soi Mae (RM15.90) that was my winner for the day. This Thai dish featured egg noodles bathed in a fragrant, rich, and mildly spicy coconut-based curry. The texture of the egg noodles was just right, offering a satisfying chewiness that combined harmoniously with the curry's creamy depths. The pickled onions added a complementary sourish taste to the curry. It was a comforting and flavourful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.
