For the second straight week, I opted for roti telur for breakfast. After a disappointing experience last week where I barely managed to eat half of the roti, I decided to try my luck at Restoran Nasi Kandar Ali One Bistro. This place, formerly known as Nasi Kandar Periuk Belanga, has a reputation that I hoped would translate into a better meal. This used to be one of my favourite places for a roti.
This time, I ordered roti jantan (RM4.50), a variation of roti canai that includes two eggs, making it a richer and more substantial option. The meal didn't start on a promising note, as the provided dhall was cold and watered down, and the chicken curry was equally insipid. The roti was also quite bland.
Feeling a bit disheartened, I requested fish curry instead, which, unfortunately, was not ready yet. After a short wait, it finally arrived piping hot. This made all the difference. The tanginess and warmth of the fish curry really elevated the roti jantan.
Restoran Nasi Kandar Ali One Bistro redeemed itself, proving that a bit of patience can lead to a rewarding meal. The whole meal including a teh o panas was RM6.10.
