Indian, Curry, Pork-Free
Lunch at Annam's Kitchen in Taman Tan Yew Lai was a mixed experience. I've seen the restaurant for a while now but finally managed to visit. I opted for the Indian curry rice, with mutton curry, a fried chicken, and two types of vegetables.
The mutton curry was quite decent, which was primarily meat and almost no bones, which I appreciated. The fried chicken, however, was a bit too dry for my taste. On a positive note, I enjoyed the fried bitter gourd, which added a nice crunch and bitterness to the meal.

The total cost came up to RM19, which felt fair for the amount of food. I couldn’t finish the fried chicken. Minus the chicken my meal would have come up to RM13.

I asked them to pack the fried chicken for takeaway and also requested a pack of curry to go with it. When I later checked the receipt, I realized I was charged RM8 just for the curry without any meat. This seemed like a mistake, as it was quite expensive for just curry gravy.
Overall, Annam's Kitchen offers a decent meal, but the unexpected charge for the curry left a slightly bitter aftertaste to the experience. It’s worth visiting for the mutton curry and fried bitter gourd, but do keep an eye on the bill to avoid any surprises.
Update on the billing. The owner acknowledged that there had been a mistake in the billing and offered to pay me back. Very admirable of him and I certainly wish there were more people like him.
