Returning to Barra Restaurant is always a treat, and this time, we elevated the experience with a group booking in their private room. The room requires a minimum spend of RM2,500, but the exclusivity and ambiance made it worthwhile.

Our meal began with a selection of tapas that set the tone for a delightful evening before we moved on to the mains. Missed out taking some of the tapas.

CHORIZO CONQUESO - RM38
Chorizo and Cheese on Toast

IBERICO HAM LEG - RM98
80g of hand-carved Jamon

ALCHACHOFAS - RM42

PULPO - RM98

HOTATE VIERAS - RM58

BOMBA DE BARCELONETA - RM32

BIKINI DE SOBRASADA - RM38
Cured Iberico Pork with Scamorza Cheese in Whole Wheat Toast

The suckling pig (RM188) was a crowd-pleaser, offering crispy skin and succulent meat that everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed.

Spring Chicken (RM55)

The suckling lamb (RM388) was another standout. Cooked sous-vide for 16 hours, it was melt-in-the-mouth tender, a testament to the chef’s skill and precision.

For me, however, the star of the evening was the grilled turbot (RM550). Turbot, a flatfish prized for its delicate flavour and firm, flaky texture, is native to European waters, especially the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Spanish are renowned for their mastery of grilling turbot, often using techniques like cooking over an open flame or a parrilla grill, which enhances the fish’s natural oils and imparts a subtle smoky aroma. Barra’s rendition did not disappoint—the fish was perfectly grilled, its mild flavour complemented by just the right amount of seasoning. Each bite was a harmonious blend of smokiness, buttery richness, and the fish’s natural sweetness.

Our evening was accompanied by several bottles of alcohol, so it’s worth noting Barra’s corkage charges:
Wine: RM80 per bottle
Champagne: RM100 per bottle
Liquor: RM200 per bottle
Barra Restaurant once again proved its reputation for refined dining with a menu that balances authenticity and flair. While the meal was indulgent, the quality of the food and the private room’s ambiance made it a memorable occasion. For those who drive, the nearest parking to it charges RM5 per half hour but has a maximum cap of RM30 per day.
