Beef Noodles, Pork-Free
I was on the hunt for food in SS15 and stumbled upon Beef Bowl SS15 in Subang Jaya. Located right off the SS15 LRT station, this eatery was the a good pitstop for a simple lunch. I ordered the spicy medium rare sliced beef noodles with koay teow (RM24.50). Right away I was impressed by the generosity of beef slices - there was a good amount piled onto the noodles. The beef itself was cooked to a rare pink center, though I would have liked it to be more pink. Many beef noodle places tend to overcook it, but not here.
The broth for the noodles had a nice layer of spiciness to it, but what was distinct, was its sweetness. It had more of a Thai-inspired profile rather than the typical peppery Chinese broth. While this is not my preference, I nevertheless found the balance of spice and sweet acceptable.
As a side, Jen tried the Thai fishcake (RM9.90). It was fairly standard but did the job of adding more texture to the meal.
What I really appreciated was being able to order lime juice on the side without any sugar added. Often lime juice comes pre-sweetened, but they don't do that here. The acidity cut through the richness of the beef perfectly.
If you are looking for a pork-free Thai styled beef noodle, then Beef Bowl SS15 can fit the bill.
