Seafood Bak Kut Teh, Non-Halal

It’s addictive, really! I just went to the only seafood Bak Kut Teh in Kepong – Chai Shi Bak Kut Teh last week. As it was raining today, I was itching to go there again, so I JIO’d two food friends to have another round. Bak Kut Teh is the best dish to eat on rainy days. It warms you up and makes you feel comfortable all over!
This time the boss has launched a new seafood bak kut teh pot for 2 persons, which is only RM49. It is full of ingredients and delicious, definitely worth it. The soup base is rich and has the aroma of medicinal herbs, and paired with the seafood carefully selected by the boss, you will know it is great after just one bite. The lala is sweet and fresh, the shrimps are chewy, and the fish balls are refreshing. When all the ingredients are put in, the whole pot is full of freshness. Just one sip of the soup will make you feel satisfied.
In addition to Bak Kut Teh, we also ordered the Klang Seafood in Superior Soup, which costs RM42 for 2 people. It’s a huge portion and really worth the money! The boss specially selected the premium Lala, each grain is plump and juicy, the shrimp is fresh enough, the fish balls are chewy and springy when bitten, and most importantly, the soup base is super fragrant! The boss uses homemade rice wine. After drinking the whole pot of soup, the strong aroma of wine with a hint of sweetness is really delicious. Halfway through the meal, my whole body warmed up. It’s perfect to eat this on a rainy day.

Pair it with a bowl of scallion oil rice, wow, that aroma! The rice grains are distinct and when eaten with Bak Kut Teh soup or seafood soup, it is really satisfying and warms the heart and stomach.

The taste of the dishes at Chai Shi Bak Kut Teh is really something you can never go back to. I wonder if my friends will come again next week? (The answer is yes!)
