Beef Noodles, Pork-Free
Dish Room Restaurant, nestled on the ground floor of a heart specialist hospital in CVS KL Sentral, might not be the first place (or even 10th place) that comes to mind for a delightful makan experience. However, Jen's choice of the Beef Hor Fun was a pleasant surprise and proof that one can have have food discoveries in unexpected places.
The Beef Hor Fun turned out to be a comforting and satisfying meal. What stood out was the quality of the beef; tender and full of flavour. And it was evident that they were generous with their portions too. Look at the picture.
The thick and well-seasoned gravy, a crucial component of any cantonese styled hor fun dish, was the perfect complement to the succulent beef. While the hor fun itself might have been slightly understated in terms of flavour, it harmonized beautifully with the star of the dish – the beef. And if you need a kick, you might want to ask them for cut chili. But I feel that would take the attention and appreciation away from the beef.
You can argue that at RM18++ per plate, you can get a better plate of hor fun elsewhere rather than at Dish Room Restaurant. But this is within a very comfortable cafe environment, so I would consider this moderately priced.
