Big Breakfast, Pork-Free
Grumpy Bagels has been receiving a lot of love on social media, so Jen and I decided to have breakfast there. We visited on a weekday morning, and while we had to scan to get a number, we were seated inside within 10 minutes of arriving. They did tell us that dining time for every table was limited to an hour.

Perusing the menu while waiting for a seat.

After placing our order and paying for it at the counter, the food arrived promptly, also within another 10 minutes.

This is quite amazing as the outlet was packed with diners. I opted for the big breakfast, which was generously sized and offered a choice of chicken or beef sausage. I chose the beef sausage, and it was a good decision. The sausage was flavourful and satisfying. The sautéed mushrooms were nicely done, adding a savoury touch to the meal. So were the baked beans.

However, I found the bagel that came with the big breakfast to be lacking in the expected chewiness. It felt more like bread than a traditional bagel. To be sure, I ordered another bagel to compare, but unfortunately, it confirmed my initial impression.

Despite the bagel’s texture not meeting my expectations, the overall experience at Grumpy Bagels was positive. The efficient service and other well-prepared components of the breakfast made it a worthwhile visit. I can see why it’s popular and how it has become a favourite spot for many.
