Kai See Hor Fun, Street Food, Non-Halal
Hunting for the elusive ipoh kai si hor fun (KSHF) as heard so much of it long ago but haven’t try it before. when i found out that there is an ipoh KSHF opened at Hamilton Food Market, i had to go as after all the foodcourt is so near my apartment.
(note: KSHF – is ipoh style noodles soup using the rice noodles ‘hor fun’ and with thinly shredded chicken pieces.)

met the friendly lady owner, jo yee whom i got into chatting with her a lot and she has good information for me about the foodcourt.
for the KSHF, there are 3 versions – soup, dry, curry. being first time tyring KSHF, of course have to take the soup one. and yes, i added extra prawns. (RM12.00)
when the bowl of KSHF was bought to me and the minute i tasted a spoonful of the soup, i was shocked!… so deliciously yummy lah. it’s like the best soup in noodles that i have ever tasted. soup was light orangey in colour. ahh with the colour and taste, it suddenly hit me, oh they must have use prawn stock for the soup too. later when i asked ??? was told it is basically chicken stock but they add prawn flavour to it by pressing on the prawns shell (if not mistaken).

i really love the soup (or some will call it broth) very much. as for the hor fun, it is smooth and soft to the taste. great combination all in that will sure make me try again. however i might try the dry version or as informed to me by jo yee, the curry version is their new menu – so maybe i might try that too

beside KSHF they also sell cheese roll with various fillings. of course i have to take the prawn roll, what else.
cheese prawn roll 3 pcs RM11.90
very good. first time i try this type of roll with cheese. the cheese added to a savoury taste together with the skin… that’s why i like it. otherwise i don’t really like this kind of fried roll.

this hamilton food market was refurbished in jan 2024 and this was the first time i visited it after the refurbishment. before the refurbishment, i had visited it twice. there were less stalls and i understand many complain most of the food were expensive at that time. now with so many stalls (chinese, indian, malays, foreign like korean, thai) the prices are quite reasonable.
Hamilton Food Market is a very big foodcourt with many dining areas (6 dining areas a-f, including an air-cond enclosure dining area and an al-fresco dining area). best part is free parking with ample space (was told 100 lots).
