Chicken Chop, Chicken Rice, Pork-Free
Hometown Hainan Coffee Puchong has undergone a revamp in terms of how they look recently. That is in keeping with the new look their new outlets are sporting. New look aside, they are still using a hybrid ordering technique. Order through a QR code but they provide you a physical menu to see the food in bigger size and hopefully entice you to make more orders. I guess they are doing this to appease old users while graduating them to making electronic orders. It’s not easy being in the service industry.

It was a day of Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM28.90++) and Chicken Rice (RM20.50++). The Chicken Rice with Bean Sprouts scored well with my wife. She liked that it was well seasoned, had good flavour and the meat was tender. The rice was the low point of the dish as it was soft and not aromatic. It could be best described as an oily rice.
The Hainanese Chicken Chop looked like sizeable portion until you see how thin the chicken is. But I do remember this being akin to the Hainanese Chicken Chop of old. The fried piece of chicken was doused in a tomato ketchup based sauce which would border on the sweetish side. That is not exactly the kind of sauce I like. The chicken was well seasoned though I found it a bit on the thin side. I think I have been spoiled by the choices that are available elsewhere.

Eating at Hometown Hainan Coffee Puchong is not a cheap affair. Our lunch for 2 inclusive of glass of water (RM2.40++) and a large glass of Iced Lemon Tea (RM9.50++) came up to RM71.10. But they do serve very decent food. Even a cup of Kopi costs RM6.50++.
Some Google reviews have lambasted the staff for indifferent service, I found their service in no way lacking courtesy.
The + is for a 10% service charge and the 6% SST.
