Chiefeater William WL Loo was at Lee Huat Cafe in Taman Green Lane to enjoy one of the better nasi lemak in town

Indian Rice
I came back again to Jalan Scott, Brickfields, for a sense of nostalgia. I grew up in the Chinese village at Lorong Scott from 1955 to 1969, near the Kee Hup Bus Workshop and Sungai Klang. The village was demolished in the mid-1970s, and urban development has since transformed the area into a landscape of concrete buildings. The old workshop is now a warehouse, Lorong Scott feels hidden, and temples line Jalan Scott. Before leaving, I had brunch at Lawanya Food Corner, enjoying an affordable Indian chap fan with mild, flavorful curry (See photos).

Passing by the old toddy shop, Thevada Buddhist Temple, and my alma mater, La Salle Brickfields, fond memories of my growing-up years came flooding back, of cheap matinees at Lido Cinema, conflicts with neighbouring kids and play kids’ games.
