Hakka, Braised Pork, Non-Halal
I was having a late meeting at Loong Hwa Puchong and decided to take away some food for dinner. The Hakka Braised Pork with Wood Ear Fungus, a dish that looks simple but carries that unmistakable old-school depth. The pork slices were braised till tender, soaking up the savoury-sweet gravy that had just the right amount of oil to coat each bite. The wood ear fungus added that satisfying crunch, balancing the soft richness of the meat with an earthy undertone.

The flavours were surprisingly well-balanced. Salty enough to pair beautifully with white rice, but not overpowering. Mind you, they are very generous with the sauce. Each mouthful brought a bit of nostalgia, reminiscent of home-style Hakka dishes that rely more on patience than flash.
A genuinely hearty Hakka meal that doesn’t try to impress. It simply delivers. It’s not something I would have expected to find at Loong Hwa Puchong but I am glad I did.
