Japanese
I recently returned to Sakana Japanese Dining at Suria KLCC after a long hiatus. Remembering the quality of their fried chicken from previous visits, I decided to venture into their seafood offerings this time.

I ordered the Fried Calamari, which proved to be an excellent alternative to my usual order. The calamari was fresh and notably well-prepared, offering a nice bite without the rubbery texture that often plagues poorly executed deep-fried squid. The taste was clean and savory. For my midday meal, I paired the snack with a simple tea. If it wasn’t still during the lunch hour, I would have gone for a beer.

The restaurant remains a pleasant spot for a casual bite, particularly for its al-fresco seating area. It is an ideal place for a light snack or lunch, provided the weather is not too stifling.

Fried Calamari – RM18.00
Onigiri-Yaki – RM12.00
Natto Thin Roll – RM15.00 Fukamushi
Shiitake Tempura – RM12.00
Unagi Hand Roll – RM25.00
Hoji-Tea (Roasted Green Tea – Hot) – RM12.80
Green Tea (Cold) – RM12.80
Fukamushi Green Tea (Hot) – RM12.80
Total Bill with service charge and SST – RM139.66
Score: 7.7 / 10
M – Meal Value
The Fried Calamari at RM18.00 offers solid value for the quality of fresh seafood provided in a prime KLCC location. While specialty tea prices are high (RM12.80), the overall quality of the snacks justifies the cost for a light lunch.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The al-fresco area facing the park and Mandarin Oriental is a major draw. It offers a peaceful retreat within the city, provided you visit when the heat is manageable.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The consistency in their deep-fried items is impressive. Whether it is their signature chicken or the newer calamari, the execution remains reliable and technically sound.
Score: 7.5/10
