Indian, Fish Head Curry
The first challenge to any decent curry fish head is having fresh snapper head and Samy’s Curry gets theirs delivered almost daily. You can taste a clean palate in the flesh. The fish was cooked just nice, firm yet not flaky. The curry spices were also balanced quite well and gives a good thick curry. Not as sweet as Chinese curry which also has tomato and pineapple, this is true blue, heavy Indian Curry.
It is arguably better than Apollo and the other big names along Race Course Road. Whilst Apollo still does it for me when it comes to the cooked dishes, Samy’s aren’t a pushover either.
The black squid was equally good at 7/10

The curried fried fish was good at 7/10

But if Apollo’s curry fish head is a solid 7/10 - then Samy’s got to be 7.5/10

Be warned, Samy’s at Dempsey isn’t your usual uppity joint - but expect to pay similar prices. It is another one of those must-do in the Sg culinary scene.
Also just IMO - Indian cuisine is one where Sg might just pip KL, if you don’t compare prices. From the small stores in Little India to your Rang Mahals, I’ve yet to have a bad Indian meal out.
