Long Yan Seafood Restaurant Lunch

Chiefeater Howard Chan had a lovely lunch at Long Yan Seafood Restaurant after an enjoyable ride to Port Dickson before heading home

Hong Kong, Congee, Non-Halal
Decent food at Taste Four Taste with a lot of options on the menu. Think a cut above the Fairwood, Maxim offerings (near the ice rink). The usual HK tea time fare eg macaroni, boiled milk etc. I’ve not been back at ICC for about 5-7 years, so this place is ‘new’
The fatty beef slices on thick noodles with spring onions was ok, around 6/10.

The tomato scrambled egg rice was better at around 6.5/10.

Places like these - I usually slum it at Maxim, and/or other char chan Tengs- you know what you’re getting (super packed taste in cramped locations). Value for money. Or we go Michelin starred Canto fare like Lung King Heen or The Chairman - you expect refinement. When in HK - we prefer to go deep, ie most of the more authentic offerings do 1-2 dishes really well be it noodles, rice or pastries . Then you get the restaurants or equivalent to our taichows / dai pai dong like the legendary Oi Man Sang and Bowrington Cooked Food Market that has mastered their woks of breath.
Didn’t have a picture - but the best dish was probably the congee. The HK style hair moss, mushroom and salted lean pork congee is always silkier than our versions in Southeast Asia. Somehow. This would come in around 6.5/10.
