We stumbled upon The Charcoal Grill Damansara Uptown while looking for lunch at the shops surrounding The Starling Mall. We discovered that it had just recently opened and focuses on a selection of charcoal-grilled meats, including chicken, lamb, pork, and beef options. The outlet is well-ventilated, ensuring you don't leave smelling like grilled meat after your meal.
They also offer a variety of other options, such as pastas and burgers. If you prefer to snack between meals, there are plenty of choices available as well.
For lunch, we ordered their Signature Marinated Chicken Chop and their Signature Marinated New Zealand Lamb Chops. Each main course comes with two generous sides, and we chose the Balsamic Tuna Salad, Baked Potato with Sour Cream, Curly Fries, and Hand Mashed Potatoes from a total of 10 options!
To start our meal, we ordered the French Onion Soup at The Charcoal Grill Damansara Uptown as a starter. The blanket of charred parmesan and mozzarella cheese, with an underlying garlic-toasted baguette soaked in beef and caramelized onion soup, was an interesting take. I would have preferred my garlic-toasted baguette on the side or added on top of the cheese instead of being fully soaked in the broth, to enjoy both the crispy-crunchy texture and the slightly soggy taste. The broth itself is a light beef stock simmered with caramelized onions.
The Signature Marinated Chicken arrived first, served with Curly Fries and Hand Mashed Potatoes. The chicken was well-seasoned and grilled to perfection, with a slight crisp on the surface and a delightful charcoal-grilled aroma lingering in the air. The chicken remained tender even after grilling. The accompanying sauce is optional, but the grilled chicken is flavorful enough without it. The Curly Fries were nice and crispy, while the Hand Mashed Potatoes were velvety smooth and flavorful.
Next, the Signature Marinated New Zealand Lamb Chops were served, accompanied by the Balsamic Tuna Salad and Baked Potato with Sour Cream. The lamb chops were well-marinated, remaining tender and juicy after grilling. The marinade tasted slightly sweeter than expected, which others might enjoy more than we did. The Balsamic Tuna Salad featured fresh vegetables and cold tuna flakes on a separate plate, offering a refreshing break from the rich, flavorful grilled meat. The Baked Potato with Sour Cream was tasty as well, with the slight crunch from fried bits mixed into the sour cream adding an interesting texture to the smooth, baked potatoes.
I look forward to another visit at The Charcoal Grill Damansara Uptown to try their other options in the near future.
