Wonderful Meal at Pung Pung Kitchen Sin Ming

Chiefeater Alan Ang had a wonderful meal at Pung Pung Kitchen Sin Ming not because only because of the good food but the company too

Union Bistrot, located within the upscale Exchange TRX mall, presents a rather polished take on familiar Malaysian flavours. Their set lunch, priced at RM58, is a worthwhile option for those seeking comfort food in an elegant setting.
The meal began with a pumpkin soup, served warm in a wide-rimmed black bowl. It’s smooth, lightly seasoned, and gently sweet with a hint of spice—simple, but refined, and a pleasant way to ease into the meal.
The main course was a local-style nasi briyani, plated beautifully with a grilled chicken leg generously slathered in a tomato-based sauce. The rice, aromatic and spiced with restraint, was dotted with raisins for added sweetness. A small side of curry provided depth, while the acar lent a necessary bite of acidity. Crisp papadam added crunch, balancing out the textures nicely.
For the price, it’s a satisfying and well-balanced set that doesn’t overwhelm. Union Bistrot leans toward the cosmopolitan, but does so without losing sight of local character. A good option for a midday business meal or a quiet lunch treat.
