Lunch at Flour and Oil Cafe

Japanese, Pork-Free
Nestled discreetly between the iconic Mandarin Oriental KL and KLCC, Sakana Japanese Dining emerges as a hidden gem. Recently, I had the pleasure of exploring their menu, and the experience left an indelible mark.
I had the recommended the 7UP Juicy Fried Chicken, which is a fancy name for a Karaage. The description piqued my interest; they claimed once you start you can’t stop. True to their claim, the dish proved irresistible. The golden-brown crispy skin gave way to succulent, tender meat beneath. At RM22++, it is a delightful lunch option for those seeking a light savoury meal.

An additional order, almost as an afterthought, was the Sonumono (RM18++). Sonumono is the name for cucumber salad but look at what they top off the cucumber with.

Beyond its culinary offerings, Sakana Japanese Dining presents a unique proposition — an escape from the bustling energy of KLCC. Tucked away from the main thoroughfares, it provides a serene setting conducive to concentration, making it an ideal spot for remote work or a quiet meal.
Complementing their delectable fare, Sakana offers a selection of Japanese beers and sake. These libations add a layer of authenticity to the dining experience, inviting patrons to savour the nuanced flavours of Japan.
