Restaurant Sevens Kappo was a chance discovery when we were on a weekend sojourn to Tiong Bahru Market. Tiong Bahru for us is reminiscent of our old haunt at Bukit Tunku, where Kenny Hills Bakery first opened (the black and white verdant, old school apartments and shops of the Selangor Apartments)
Helmed by the talented Chef Haru, whose impressive pedigree includes training under the original sushi chefs from the esteemed Kuriya franchise, Restaurant Sevens Kappo promises an unforgettable dining journey. With over 20 years of experience and a keen eye for detail, Chef Haru's culinary prowess shines through in every dish, elevating traditional Japanese cuisine to new heights.
The omakase menus here offer a delightful array of options, ranging from SGD88++ to SGD280++ per person, each meticulously curated to showcase the season's freshest produce and Chef Haru's creative flair. Whether you opt for the top-tier menu or the more modest offerings, you're in for a treat that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you craving for more.
One of the highlights of our dining experience was the claypot rice with grilled eel, a divine marriage of smoky flavours and delicate textures that danced on the palate. The sliced long dan fish with egg drop was another standout dish, boasting a perfect harmony of flavours and a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that left us in awe.
But perhaps the pièce de résistance was Chef Haru's signature uni handroll, a true masterpiece that showcased his impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail. Adorned with a sprinkle of gold dust, this culinary gem was as visually stunning as it was delicious, leaving us speechless with every bite.
In addition to the exceptional food, Restaurant Sevens Kappo also offers a captivating dining experience, with Chef Haru's theatrics adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings. From his fiery cooking skills to his playful presentation, Chef Haru ensures that every moment at the table is filled with joy and wonder.
Chiefeater Luke Soon is being a baddy by sharing a place that is currently not open and making us all suffer. Apparently it's being re-renovated.
