Meriah TRX is the latest brand from the Serai Group, located in the sleek and modern The Exchange TRX. Known for its diverse dining concepts, this outlet focuses on South East Asian cuisine, though they offer a few Western options to cater to a wider crowd. Jen and I gravitated toward the more traditional dishes on the menu and ordered the Nasi Ambeng and Nasi Bebek.
Nasi Ambeng is a popular Javanese dish typically served for communal dining. Meriah TRX's version of it is a rice platter featuring an assortment of jasmine rice with ayam masak lemak (creamy coconut chicken curry), sambal telur puyuh (quail eggs), fried tempeh with sambal, sayur urap(steamedsalad), bergedil (mashed potato fritters), paru berlado (beef lung), silky eggplant with fried anchovies & serunding ayam (spicy chicken floss), all arranged on a single plate. Traditionally served on large trays for group sharing, it’s now often presented in individual portions, but it still retains its signature blend of textures and flavours, from spicy to savoury and mildly sweet. The Nasi Ambeng is priced at RM35.
Nasi Bebek (RM45) is another Indonesian favourite, featuring a generous serving of crispy fried duck, marinated in local spices. The plate included rice, gulai telur itik (duck curry eggs), ulam ulaman and a side of sambal, making it a simple yet deeply satisfying meal.
Both plates were very generously portioned, offering more than enough for a hearty meal. I guess that's why it draws in the diners into their outlet.
