Japanese, Hamburg
The beef and pork hamburg at Goro Goro Hamburg Rice Austin Heights was good. But the thing that really completed it was the red wine sauce.

Godzilla was our dinner companion.

We ordered the 180g Aussie Beef & Pork Hamburg Rice, and the hamburg itself had the juicy, slightly springy texture I enjoy from this style of Japanese hambāgu.

Then came that sauce.
Rich, savoury and just sweet enough to complement the meat without drowning it.

Jen liked it so much that she finished the sauce.
I think that says enough. 😜
The beef and pork hamburg was already enjoyable on its own, but the red wine sauce brought the whole plate together.
We also ordered the Nanban Karaage. The chicken itself could have been quite good. There was decent texture underneath, but unfortunately it was drowned by the sauce.

Too much sauce meant the coating lost some of the crispness that would have made the dish more enjoyable.
So between the two, the hamburg was easily the winner.
Edamame – RM8.90
Red Wine Hamburg Rice, 180g Aussie Beef & Pork, Super Set – RM46.80
Nanban Karaage, 3 pcs – RM10.90
Subtotal – RM66.60
Service Charge (10%) – RM6.66
Rounding – RM0.04
Total: RM73.30
MVX Score: 8.0/10
M – Meal Value
RM46.80 for the 180g beef and pork hamburg set is not cheap, but the meat was good and the red wine sauce made the dish feel complete. The Nanban Karaage was less successful because of the excessive sauce.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue
The restaurant is modern, comfortable and nicely designed, with a clean Japanese-inspired interior that suits a casual dinner well.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The red wine sauce was the memorable part. It complemented the hamburg so well that Jen finished the sauce, which is probably the strongest endorsement I can give it.
