Western, Pork-Free, Fine Dining
Starting mummy’s birthday celebration at Michelin Select Hide Restaurant Ritz-Carlton residences!

Pros:
(A) The appetizers were really unique, thoughtfully blending local ingredients into mini works of art. Amongst which the Bergedil smoked bone marrow was my personal favourite.

(B) “Kaya toast” was surprising. It’s not really kaya toast but merengue shaped into toast with pistachio kaya, butter spread which surprisingly worked well together. I was most skeptical about this dish before dining at Hide. Afterall, it’s not typically what you expect to be served when you see a fine dining menu, Pleasantly surprised it was good.

(C) Subsequent courses were also very well executed. The pasta, burger, fish and lamb with nasi ulam, all really good.

(D) Desserts were passable. Not unforgettable though.

(E) Nice touches with additional surprise matcha cake for mummy’s bday and family Instax picture.
Cons:
(F) Unfortunately husbie and dad had to go for 2nd round supper after dinner. Would have been nice if they allowed refillable rice or had some filler breads.
Overall in terms of execution and crafting of the menu, I do rank Hide higher than Beta. It had more uniqueness and pleasant surprises to the course than Beta. However the due to (F) slight deduction of scores.
Overall 4.5/5 would recommend trying!
