Prior to this, I had only read about Honest Butcher, which has garnered a loyal following among beef enthusiasts. Located in the industrial area of Sunway Damansara, this place has been on my radar for a while. I finally had the opportunity to dine there when friends threw me a surprise birthday party. It’s wonderful to have friends who plan such thoughtful surprises.
Our dinner spread was impressive, featuring a variety of dishes that showcased Honest Butcher’s renowned beef. The beef was divine, cooked to perfection, and richly flavourful, making it clear why this place has such a dedicated fan base. Adding to the excitement, there were some new dishes that had just launched the day before, and our dinner party was among the first to savour them. The photos below are courtesy of Chiefeater Kimberly Wan.
Bite sized goodness. Crispy Croissant with Caviar & Whipped Egg
Hand Roll Engawa
The Chili Prawn and Fried Mantau was the bomb. The sauce went to well with the mantou and the prawn was so fresh.
Garlic Bonito Escargot
Australian MB 8/9 Ribeye
A5 Kobe Flank Steak
Wagyu Claypot Loh Shi Fun
Siong Tong Lala. Lala cooked in a savoury broth.
For me, the highlight was the Kansai Claypot Rice with Double Foie Gras. This dish was the epitome of decadence, with a full-bodied savoury taste that left a lasting impression. The richness of the foie gras combined with the perfectly cooked rice created a dish that was truly indulgent.
Another standout was Chef Nick T’s rum-loaded tiramisu. It was the perfect way to end the meal, with its creamy texture and delightful hint of rum adding a unique twist to the classic dessert. Everyone at the party enjoyed it immensely. No picture was captured of it. Too good!
The combination of great food and even better company made this a memorable evening. Honest Butcher exceeded my expectations, and I can see why it has such a strong reputation among beef lovers. Whether you're a beef aficionado or simply enjoy good food, this place is definitely worth a visit.
