Taiwanese, Non-Halal
Welcome to Hokkien hospitality and yummy Taiwanese food at new restaurant, Jia Ba Bue Bayan Baru, just opened since June 2024 ~ pronounced as "Chiak Pa Boey" (translated: "Have u eaten yet"). Located just 2 doors from Post Office and next to Canning Dimsum at Piazza Mall at Bayan Baru, this place shows great potential.
We enjoyed the mee sua with braised pork intestine -smooth, sour and spicy. The sesame ginger chicken was aromatic and tender with lots of fried ginger strips which was fried until crispy.
The shrimp rice was yummy with juicy succulent prawns. Love it. I was so pleasantly surprised that although it was an ala carte order, it came with a mini earthen pot of slow cook winter melon soup, so delish; and with a refreshing jelly dessert which reminded me of the home styled agar-agar jelly we used to have as kids: perfect consistency, not too hard or wobbly and just right on the sweetness with no colouring. So good!
They have some nice desserts too - we were so satisfied with their peach gum longan snow fungus tong sui which was choked full with ingredients.
Friendly, clean and efficient little restaurant with attentive staff, managed by a tall elegant young lady who taught me how to pronounce the name of the shop correctly. Open from 11 am to 3 pm, from 5pm to 9pm everyday except Sunday. So next time when someone asks u "Chiak Pa Boey?", u point them to this restaurant and say "Chiak Pa Liao"!
