Hoo Khoon Cafe Hokkien Mee
Prawn Mee, Street Food, Non-Halal
- Under RM20 per pax
Chiefeater Hedges Liang was glad that the version of Hokkien Mee served at Hoo Khoon Cafe met his anticipation
Teochew, Non-Halal
First up at Kam Boat Teochew Restaurant. 2 varieties of Teochew Soyed (卤水双拼), which included succulent and moist pieces of thinly sliced duck and three pieces of soybean tofu. The waitress suggested we dip the duck into a slightly acidic, yellowish liquid with red bits in it to enhance the taste. I liked it fine with or without the extra dip, as the thick soy sauce-based gravy added plenty of flavour to the meat and soybean.
Since it’s our first time, and in tradition we go for the basics - steamed HK dimsum. These came out ok, 6/10
The dumplings in chilli oil was good at 7/10
The lobster noodles were good at 6.5/10
We noticed the cooking here to be lighter, less salty than other places.
For the private room, minimum spend is SGD100 par pax. Pretty good deal- and we can call in ahead to try their speciality dishes such as pork tummy soup stuffed in chicken. Pre order 2 days in advance!
