Toriya Yakitori Grilled Vegetables

Japanese, Skewers

Description

What Chiefeater VK Ordered at Toriya

Choosing from the à la carte menu at Toriya Yakitori in Puchong offered a refreshing shift from their familiar yakitori sets. This authentic Japanese establishment is noted for its focus on quality, led by a Chef Mark with over 35 years of experience handling skewers.

The meats were excellent as usual but that’s only to be expected.

The camembert, elegantly drizzled with honey, was another standout that tasted every bit as good as its presentation suggested.

The vegetable skewers were particular highlights of the evening. I never knew that lotus root could taste so good grilled.

The zucchini was expertly grilled to a flavour that remarkably mimicked meat. This blew my mind on how this was possible.

To accompany these savoury bites, a selection of sake proved to be an ideal pairing, enhancing the traditional izakaya experience.

The meal concluded on a bright, seasonal note with a mandarin sorbet. Given the abundance of mandarin oranges during the approach of Chinese New Year, this refreshing dessert served as a perfect palate cleanser to wrap up the dinner.
