Fireplace by Bedrock, is an extension of the Bedrock brand with a focus on open-fire cooking- somewhat like a Burnt Ends ‘killer’. Fireplace is The dining ambience of Fireplace is more relaxed vibe as compared to Bedrock, more Caribbean with Cabana vibes. If you’re dining on a breezy (in my case rainy) night, you’re going to get the feels. On those nights opt for outdoor seating.
We were a party of 3 and started with the oven-baked Bone Marrow Toast (SGD28) which is served on a house-made toasted brioche topped with pickled shallots, capers, parsley, and caramelised onions.
The Watermelon Salad (SGD15) is a crowd’s favourite which comes with cubes of fresh watermelon with red onions, cucumbers, toasted pine nuts, feta cheese, and coriander. this reminded me of the gazpacho at FOC (40 Hong Kong Street).
We also had sharing dish - the Octopus Tentacles (SGD28) where the tentacle is served with a housemade coriander pesto sauce made with coriander, parmesan cheese, garlic, pine nuts and olive oil. The dish is garnished with celery cress and sprinkled with Togarashi (Japanese 7-spice blend).
We tried both the Keisan Wagyu and Porterhouse cuts, both medium. I’d say the wood fire added to the overall experience (don’t forget your sense of smell before anything is infested).
While not at Burnt End levels - I’d say this gets pretty darned close (75%), and that’s commensurate with the price - SGD511 for 3pax including a bottle of rose. If you’re craving meats in the Holland area, this is the place for you. Fireplace doesn’t do injustice to the Bedrock brand one bit!
