Eels
Pungcheonga Cheongdam serves the best grilled eels in the world, possibly. The name refers to a village/province famous for eels. It doesn’t get any better than this - yes everything is in Hangul, so you’ll need to speak Hangul or have some locals with you. We went to their premier branch at Cheongdam-dong.
The eels are so fresh they’re said to have “health checks” to ensure quality - before the diners arrive. There’s no muddy taste at all. It’s pure brilliance 8/10 for the grilled eels - we had 2 large eels for 4 pax. The sauces and wraps were aplenty as with any Korean meal.

I personally prefer not to wrap my food - but it might be a little impolite to have eel slices at gusto while your Korean friends are busy wrapping theirs!
The aged kimchi soup was fabulous - the best I’ve had thus far. 8/10

The sticky rice soup for ending tasted like charred congee - perfect at 7/10

A very satisfying meal in Seoul, possibly the best grilled eels I’ve had. There’s no yakitori sauce - like how you’d have it in Japan. this is pure eel - try first to have it plain without any condiments, then layer on eg salt, then salt & gochujang etc.
We will be back again.
