DongQu Taiwanese Dine and Drink Experience

I’d seen Taste of Duck before when wandering around IOI Mall, so today I finally tried their delivery. I ordered the Roast Pork Belly Noodles, the Roast Duck Rice, and the Cold Cucumber with Garlic and Wood Ear Mushroom.
The noodles arrived looking promising, but the first bite was a surprise — almost no seasoning. It felt like someone forgot to add sauce entirely. The pork belly itself was alright, nicely textured and not overly fatty, but it couldn’t save the blank canvas underneath.

The roast duck leaned mild too. The skin was decent, but the flavour didn’t carry that deep, savoury profile I usually look for in a good roast duck.
Then came the unexpected champion. The Cold Cucumber with Garlic and 木耳 wood ear mushroom. Crunchy, refreshing, lightly spicy, and perfectly balanced. The wood ear mushroom had that ideal snap, making it easily the best thing on the table. Funny how the cheapest dish turned out to be the standout.

Roast Pork Belly Noodle — RM19.90
Roast Duck Rice — RM19.90
Cold Cucumber with Garlic & Wood Ear Mushroom — RM10.90
Score: 7.0 / 10
M – Meal Value (6.8/10)
Mixed performance. The proteins were alright, but the noodles lacked seasoning entirely. The cucumber + wood ear dish delivered strong value and flavour.
V – Vibe & Venue (7.2/10)
Delivery order, but the packaging was secure and portions were reasonable. No leaking, no mess.
X – X-Factor (6.5/10)
The unexpected star: the cold cucumber and mushroom salad. If everything matched this quality, the experience would be solid.
