Tea
I booked Tea Room by Ki-Setsu because I wanted a pause from the usual Orchard pace. And that’s exactly what it felt like the moment I stepped in. It’s not the usual ‘aesthetic café’ vibe. It’s a small, private tea sanctuary where the room itself nudges you to slow down, sit properly, and actually taste what’s in your cup.
The session is reservation-only (no walk-ins), and it’s intentionally intimate with only 2 to 5 guests per session. That “limited seats” feeling is real: you’re not sharing the space with strangers, and the host can focus on you without multitasking across tables.
What I appreciated most was how the tea master guided instead of “performing.” They asked what I usually like (lighter vs deeper, floral vs roasted), then adjusted the brewing and pacing around that. I’m NOT a tea expert but I could still follow the story. Where the flavour is coming from, what to notice first, and why the aftertaste changes as the water temperature shifts. The website talks about teas sourced from ancient tea trees in Yunnan, China and the experience feels aligned with that “provenance + restraint” idea.
What stood out for me was how much the teaware changes the whole mood. The cups and vessels are beautiful in a subtle way. They are not flashy but the kind you keep turning in your hands between sips. The website mentions Jingdezhen, wood-fired kilns, and that “beauty in imperfection” idea, and I could see what they mean once you’re actually holding the cup.
This place isn’t a place for quick catch-ups or anyone who’s easily impatient. But if you enjoy Chinese tea and you like experiences that feel quiet, thoughtful, and unhurried, Tea Room by Ki-Setsu is a rare find.
Private tea sessions are available by reservation only.
