Chiefeater David Lee SP had an absolutely super Thai cuisine lunch at Ding Thai Feng Restaurant in Butterworth

Wantan Mee, Street Food, Non-Halal
Restoran Jie Mee had been operated by sisters for the past 27 years before moving in to their new location in Mont Kiara!
One of the sisters said the noodles are handmade by an ‘uncle’ but was unable to (understandably) share more deets. I asked 3-4x who and how the noodles were made. They’re so springy and full of bite- it reminded me of the noodles made using a bamboo in Hong Kong and China. This was one of the best wantan mee I’ve had in years. Overall 7.5/10
The curry sauce drizzled over the plate of noodles was pure heaven. The white sides are actually santan, which added a silky, balanced finish to this humble dish.

The Hakka noodles was the surprise find for me. This was equally good at 7.25/10. The bits of pork lard on top was a game changer for me.

The fried wontons are freshly wrapped and fried upon order. Simple and delicious. 7/10

We bought some home made prawn crackers as well, which we initially wanted to sample during the meal- but ended up almost halving the jar. 7.25/10
We have Chiefeater William to thank for this jewel of a wanton mee in the Klang Valley. To me, way better than the stuff I’ve had Hung Kee (near Choo Cheng Kay), the flying versions all over.
