Curry Mee, Street Food, Non-Halaly
The curry mee (RM10) from Yuan Feng Kopitiam proved to be a flavourful and well-executed rendition of this classic dish. From the rich broth to the firm, satisfying noodles, every element came together in a deeply comforting bowl.
The curry broth had a wonderful depth, carrying a pleasing balance of spice and creaminess. It leaned towards a thicker consistency, which allowed the spices and coconut milk to coat each strand of noodle beautifully. Every spoonful delivered a bold, aromatic punch, with hints of lemongrass and dried shrimp adding complexity.
What stood out was the noodle choice—thicker than typical yellow mee but not quite as wide as udon, giving it a satisfying, firm bite. This substantial texture held up well against the broth, ensuring each mouthful carried both flavour and chewiness.
The bowl was generously topped with soft poached chicken, which added a light, delicate contrast to the rich broth. The fried beancurd puffs soaked up the curry beautifully, releasing bursts of spiced coconut goodness with each bite. The bean sprouts and chopped scallions provided a fresh, crisp counterpoint, enhancing the overall experience.
I also ordered some kampung chicken, chicken innards and roast pork from the chicken rice stall. The items were all good too. RM23 for all the items in the picture below.
