We were looking for a place Midtown for a lunch on a Friday afternoon - near Bryant Park winter market for skating and chanced upon Parker & Quinn, a restaurant located in the Refinery Hotel. Big, bright and not too loud, the kind of places I like.
This place that serves an American fare proposes some interesting cocktails, not just the classic ones. So I got tempted by The City is Mine, an original cocktail made with Great Jones bourbon, angostura bitters, lime and mint. For sure, they were generous with the quantity of bourbon, and this was quite refreshing with the touch of mint and lemon. Jodi settled for their pomegranate lemonade that was not too sweet and also quite refreshing, going for a non-alcoholic beverage.
If you’re after a New Yorker vibe thrown back into the swinging 20s- this would be it! We went for the pork chop, the burgers and octopus for starters .
The chop was slightly overdone 6/10.
The lamb burger wasn’t hot enough 6/10.
The octopus was also not warm enough 6/10.
The sun chockes (Jerusalem artichokes) was a little more unique coming in at 6.5/10 albeit being a side.
The bartenders are very able and the selection of pilseners were impressive - anything American that is. You have versions like Bear Hug, Montauk and Mermaid pilseners! If you’re walking Midtown this would be a good place for an afternoon cheeky pint.
Overall a solid 6/10 for this place. A worthwhile visit. The food is passable. The service is prompt.
Total damage SGD270.97.
